UBUNTU is a coming of age story that follows Hakeem (Laith Zuaiter) & Darren (Brandon Brown), best friends and star athletes navigating through the nuances of high school. When pushed to face their collective fears in social settings, Hakeem and Darren realize that staying true to their authentic self and supporting one another is what matters the most.
Ubuntu is a result of a Short Film Fellowship by Mike Mosallam Productions (MMP), in partnership with the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), for emerging Muslim filmmakers. The fellowship aims to increase the visibility of Muslim narratives and elevate stories that often struggle to find a home. MMP and MPAC developed, produced, and are in the midst of a promising festival run for “Ubuntu,” helmed by the gifted Screenwriter Adel Kamal and prolific Director Aqsa Altaf.
